Another awsome weekend was enjoyed by myself and a few of my friends. I had originally canceled the workshop that I had been trying to organize because a bunch of people canceled at the last minute. But since my 3 friends that wanted the class didn't cancel, I though I'd spend the afternoon with them teaching them how to use their cameras and the basics of shutter speed, aperture, ISO, and lenses as well as some techniques for shooting. So this was not anything formal by any means, but 2 days before Sat that I had the "workshop" for them, one of them said that her brother in law wanted to come along with his wife. So finally, I ended up having 5 people. I also invited Nancy, a young lady from church that I have known for about 1 year. I asked her to model for us to take pictures and she agreed to give us some of her time. She was wonderful and we had a lot of fun. I think everyone learned a lot and I was able to get some good pix for Nancy. Here are some of my favorite pix from the session...as always, your comments are welcome.

This past weekend I had the wonderful opportunity to shoot the Quinceanera (Mexican version of a sweet 16, but at 15) of Vero. She was a lot of fun to take pix of and was very relaxed, although she said she was a bit nervous. I learned a lot and I had tons of fun, especially with the "chamberlanes" (don't know how to translate that into English), they were 5 really fun kids and we all had a blast. Although by the end of the portrait session that took place between 8-9:30, they were getting tired. All in all I think I got some good pix, here are a few of what Vero will be getting with her package, along with a surprise.

Actually, I remembered of some pictures I took in our house or near our house. Here are a few. All of these were taken with my Casio P&S, since the lens on my Nikon D70s is in the shop for service.

Here is a really close focus picture, again with my Casio camera.

Some flowers in our front yard. These are tiny, but again, I am using the Macro focus of my Casio P&S camera. Amazing sharpness.

Well, it has been 2 weeks since I posted anything. I have been quite tide up with some of my other extra curricuar activities. The nuns that had been at our parish for over 20 years went back to Mexico and they probably will not return so made a going away dinner for them. I also took pictures so I could create a DVD slideshow, however I have been unable to finish it. I was also working on the workshop I was going to put together, which now looks like it will have to get canceled because several people have canceled. I also had to send my camera lens in to Nikon for repair because the autofocus stopped working properly. Good thing is that the computer has been very stable, and I figure it's because I haven't run the automatic updates from Microsoft ;-). I have a sweet 16 coming up next Sat, 7/15, so after that I will post some pictures of the shoot. The other thing I am very excited about is that I have ordered my One Light rig to help me get some great portraits. One of the parts arrived on Fri and the others will be delivered on Mon. More to come.
